Certified Force Free Dog Trainer

About Lara
Hello! I’m a science-based, force-free, certified dog trainer who loves her job for 15 years, I ran my own business offering dog training, boarding, and daycare services, where I had the privilege of meeting wonderful families and their beloved dogs in Turkey. Those years gave me unforgettable memories that I cherish to this day.
Currently, I mainly provide house-sitting and dog-training services in Almere and Lelystad, but I also travel a lot for training sessions. In addition to my hands-on work with dogs, I’ve gained experience working in an animal shelter and a dog boarding facility in the Netherlands. Now, I’m fully focused on my education as a postgraduate student in Clinical Animal Behaviourist and working only with my clients. I can help you with dog and cat behavior problems and training.
I also hold a veterinary technician diploma, which allows me to cover certain medical needs, such as administering medication, monitoring recovery, and providing extra care for pets with special health conditions.
Back in Turkey, I fostered and rehabilitated many traumatized dogs and cats, helping them find loving forever homes. It brings me so much joy to still be in touch with many of their families today.
Animals have always been at the heart of my life. I would describe myself as an observant, empathetic, and detail-oriented person. My passion lies in animal behaviour but I am especially active in dog behavior. Shelter/rescue dog behaviour, search and rescue training and dog-assisted interventions are my favourite fields when it comes to keep learning.
I share my life with wonderful dogs and cats—a rescue dog, two rescue cats, and two Border Collies. I had my first dog, Onyx, a Golden Retriever mix when I was 14. She was more than just a pet; she was my sister, my best friend, my furry child, and, in many ways, my greatest teacher. After spending 16 wonderful years with her, there’s no way to describe who I am without mentioning her.
While my main focus is dogs and cats, I truly love all animals—and I’m not afraid of any species. Over the years, I have cared for snakes, spiders, birds, rabbits, chinchillas, chickens, and even wild animals while working in an animal shelter. Every animal, no matter their species, deserves respect, patience, and proper care.
I understand firsthand how difficult it is to trust someone with your beloved pets. As a pet parent myself, I know the worry that comes with finding the right sitter. That’s why I believe in the philosophy of doing good and receiving good in return. With years of experience and deep respect for animals, I am committed to caring for your pets as if they were my own.
I offer:
✔ Training Lessons – Behaviour consultations and training lessons for dogs and cats
✔ Pet sitting – At your home, including house visits.
✔ Overnight stays and daycare – For guest dogs (under specific conditions).
When it comes to training and care, I believe in kindness, patience, and understanding.
-The motivation of the dog owner and the consistency of the training are very important. For this purpose, I try to offer special, applicable suggestions for each family and I care that you understand and internalize the reasons for my suggestions.
-I do not use aversive techniques such as prong collars, shock collars, corrections with a leash or a harsh loud tone of voice etc. So if you want me to walk your dog with one of these, I am not the right fit for you.
-Understanding the emotions and needs behind the behavior and giving the dog the opportunity to learn by making choices and having fun is a must in my practise. Of course it takes time and effort but the knowledge and trust will last forever.
If your dog meets the following criteria, I may be able to offer daycare (only in the week) or overnight stays at my home:
✔ Small/medium size female
✔ Friendly with both cats and dogs
✔ House-trained
✔ Comfortable being left alone for a few hours (for overnight stays)
Important Notes
🏡 For house-sitting, I do need to leave twice a day (morning and afternoon) to walk my own dogs and client dogs or training sessions. Your dog should be comfortable being alone for a few hours. (If your dog has a seperation anxiety I may still help you but it depends on my calendar and daily price will be different.)
🚗 If parking fees apply in your neighborhood or if I need to drive more than 12 km, I kindly ask for these costs to be covered.
📸 I will send you regular photos and videos of your furry friend, and I’m always available to answer any questions.
Every animal is unique, with their personality and needs. My job is to respect and support them in the best way possible. I’ve worked with all kinds of dogs—from playful puppies to senior dogs, from social butterflies to reactive ones—and I deeply understand the importance of individualized care.
I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out, and for more details
