Hi! I’m Defne, a student living in The Hague. 🌱

I’ve always had a natural connection with animals. I grew up around cats and dogs and back in my hometown my own cat is currently living with my family. Being away from her has definitely made me miss having animals around, which is one of the reasons I’d love to start pet sitting here!

I have experience looking after both cats and dogs for friends and family, including feeding, walking, playing and keeping them company. I know every animal has their own personality and boundaries, so I always try to understand what makes them feel comfortable and give them the space or attention they need.

I’m happy to take care of your pet through walks, home visits, daycare or overnight stays. For walks, I usually spend around 30–60 minutes outside, depending on your dog’s age, energy level and usual routine. Home visits can also be around 30–60 minutes and include feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning if needed, playtime and, of course, some company and cuddles if your pet enjoys them.

I’m also happy to send you little photo updates while you’re away:)

For daycare or boarding, my own student house is quite small, so I prefer to host pets at my partner’s home, where they have more space to move around and feel comfortable. My partner and I would be there and I would be the person responsible for taking care of your pet. I prefer to take care of one household’s pet(s) at a time so I can give them enough attention.

Dogs staying with me will not be left home alone. For cats, depending on their personality and usual routine, they may occasionally be alone for a short period, but never longer than around 3–4 hours. They can sleep wherever we agree is most comfortable and closest to their normal routine, whether that’s in their own bed or another comfortable space in the house.

I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, so for me pet sitting is more than simply checking off a list of tasks. We can always talk about the details beforehand and find what works best for you and your pet. I’m very happy to adapt to their usual routine. 🐈🐕

Practical note: My availability varies depending on my school and work schedule, but I’ll always keep my calendar up to date. I have free public transportation on weekdays, so travelling within and around The Hague is easy for me. For weekend bookings that require public transport, I may kindly ask for the travel costs to be covered.
