My name is Maya and I'm a 22 year old German-Australian who has been living in the Hague for the last three years. I am currently completing my masters at Amsterdam University, but my little dog lives all the way in Australia with my family. We have had him for almost 6 years now, and I don't know where my life would be without him. He truly provides a love and a sense of companionship that is hard to describe to people without pets, and I understand deeply the desire to keep them happy and safe. Part of my particpation here is slightly selfish, as I miss my dog so much that caring for other people's animals gives me a great deal of joy when I'm so far away from my own! Because my own home is not equipped for dog-sitting, and I otherwise have a busy study schedule, I am happy to provide 30 minute -1 hour long walks for your pet, or check up on them during the day for feeding and attention, as I know how hard it can be to fit them in with a full workday and busy home life. My availability is most evenings outside of Friday and Saturday (because I have work) and also cannot do Wednesday, Monday or Thursday mornings on account of lectures in Amsterdam. Otherwise, all times in between are free! The only pets that would not suit my setup are as follows: highly reactive and requiring special attention or training (I would not want to distress the animal), dogs that have a hard time with recall should you want me to take them off-leash, or dogs who have severe behavioural issues as I would hate to have a dog run away from me or refuse to cooperate at risk of its own safety. Otherwise I obviously am very familiar with how cheeky they can be, and have plenty of patience when taking care of them! I have looked after pets for family, friends or as a paid job before, and have extensive experience being around all sorts of dogs and breeds.
