About Diana
I am excited to apply for the dog sitter position. Having grown up with dogs my whole life, from German Shepherds to Poodles, I have developed a strong understanding of different dogs, their needs, and their individual personalities.
Throughout my life, I have cared for dogs both within my family and for friends and relatives. I have regularly helped with dog walking and pet sitting, and I understand the responsibility that comes with looking after someone’s pet. I am reliable, patient, and attentive, and I always make sure dogs feel safe and comfortable in my care.
Since moving to Maastricht to pursue my master’s degree, I have had to leave my own dog back home with my family. I really miss having dogs around and the daily routine of caring for them, which is why I would love the opportunity to become a dog sitter here. I would be happy to provide owners with reliable support while also getting to spend time with dogs again.
For dog walking, I would typically plan for a 30–60 minute walk, depending on the dog’s age, energy level, and individual needs. I live just a two-minute walk from a park, making it very convenient to take dogs out for regular walks and give them plenty of space to exercise and explore. I understand that a good walk is not only about physical exercise, but also about allowing dogs to sniff, explore their surroundings, and take breaks when needed. I would follow the owner’s instructions regarding routes, length of walks, feeding, and any specific needs, while keeping a close eye on the dog’s behaviour and safety around other dogs, people, and traffic.
For daycare, I would follow the dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including regular walks, playtime, feeding, water, and plenty of rest. I would always supervise dogs while they are in my apartment and make sure they have a calm and comfortable space where they can relax. I would avoid leaving a dog alone for long periods and, as a general maximum, would not leave a dog alone for more than around four hours. For dogs that are not comfortable being alone, I would make sure they receive more frequent supervision.
I would keep my apartment comfortable and safe by removing anything that could be harmful, making sure dogs have access to fresh water, and giving them their own space to rest. I would also respect each dog’s individual habits and boundaries, as I understand that some dogs need more attention and activity while others are happier with a quieter routine.
Most importantly, I would treat every dog in my care with the same patience, attention, and responsibility as I would my own, while keeping the owner informed and following their instructions carefully.
