I cannot imagine a world without the love, support, and entertainment value of the animals that share our lives. Sometimes we need a little help to make sure those relationships remain nourishing, especially when life demands our attention in a thousand ways. An extra walk or cuddle can make all the difference. That's where I can help.

Lessons from My Fur Family

I have been the proud human of animals throughout my life. It's enriched my life and challenged me to be a better person. We currently have an aging 12-year old St. Bernard, with all the emotions that preparing to say goodbye involves. I have learned the most from our 6-year old shepherd with anxiety issues. He has taught me how to stop and be in the moment; in order to give him the for soothing and encouragement he needs. And finally, we laugh as I try to keep up with our 4-year old Newfoundland who thinks he's either a race horse or a lapdog.

Veterinary Clinic Experience

I worked as an assistant in a veternary clinic during the pandemic years. Part of my responsibiliies included supporting the veterinary professionals with examinations, procedures such as ultrasound and x-ray processing, and administering vaccinations and medications. I was the first person both the animals and the humans met, so it was important to establish a positive, safe environment. The clinic required us to become certified as "Fear Free" staff, focusing on techniques to treat the whole animal, not just the sick part. It is a philosophy that I follow to this day, ensuring all the animals in my life - mine and yours - benefit from a positive, strength-based and enjoyable approach.
