About Anneloes
Hi! My name is Anneloes, and dogs have been a big part of my life for the past 5 years (before that I thought I had allergies!). I shared a dachshund with a close friend until recently, and for the past 2,5 years I’ve been caring for two whippets together with my ex-partner. I also fostered a dog who was later adopted by a friend. Through these experiences, I’ve gained hands-on knowledge of different personalities, energy levels, and training needs.
Why sighthounds?
Over time, I’ve developed a deep love for sighthounds. I find their gentle, goofy nature and their big feelings in a pencil body the best thing in the world. Their personalities make me feel seen as a human. Caring for two whippets has taught me a lot about their sublte communication, their sensitivity and their need for decompression. From beach zoomies to couch potatoes, I love it all!
How does it work with the co-parenting?
Because I’m sharing the care of my two whippets 50/50 with my ex I have time (and love!) to take care of other whippets and greyhounds. I'd also love to meet more silkens, galgo's and other breeds or mixes like lurchers. I usually split the time between my dogs and Pawshake guests but at times they can strengthen each other: Lua the retired racing greyhound is scared of a lot of things, but has more confidence when my girls join her for walks (which is the best!). My girls loveee to meet other sighthounds as well!
My house & walking routes
I live in a spacious apartment right next to Rembrandtpark, where I do a lot of my daily walks. I also regularly visit Sloterpark and De Bretten, which are ideal for quieter walks with less rabbits (if you know you know lol) and for dogs who need a more low-stimulation environment. For special adventurous outings, I like to go to the Amsterdamse Bos or the beach with my car -- perfect for off-leash runs and zoomies!
Why dogsitting?
Until last year, I worked as a freelance project manager. Since developing long COVID last fall, I’ve been focusing more on things that genuinely bring me energy and joy, while slowly building up my activity level. I feel like dogs are the perfect way! I’m calm, responsible, and attentive, and I enjoy getting to know each dog as an individual. Whether your dog needs structure, enrichment, rest, or simply a safe and comfortable place to relax, I’ll make sure they feel at home. I have several dog beds, plenty of cozy blankets, and two soft crates available for crate-trained dogs if they prefer.
I’d love to meet your sighthound and make sure they have a safe, relaxed, and enjoyable stay while you’re away. 🐾
