Hi! We’re Gretel, Mohammad & Chandra 🐾

We’re a little family of three who absolutely love having animals around. Gretel grew up in Venezuela surrounded by pets — dogs, rabbits, hamsters, turtles… basically, she gets excited about every animal she meets! Mohammad is from Egypt and has always been a big cat lover, and together we’ve been caring for pets through Pawshake for several years.

We took a break from Pawshake to raise our own puppy, Chandra, and now that she’s 3 years old, we’re very happy to open our home again. My brother also does Pawshake, and whenever we meet the dogs he’s taking care of, it reminds us how much we enjoy having different furry personalities around. We also love seeing Chandra have a little friend to share her home and park adventures with ❤️

Chandra is a playful but respectful dachshund. She can be a little shy at first when meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable she loves to play. If another dog prefers space, she’s very happy to respect that. She is more comfortable with small and medium-sized dogs, and we don’t take very energetic puppies, so we only welcome dogs over one year old.

We live on Elckerlijcstraat, right next to Erasmuspark, which is where we spend most of our time with the dogs. We love going there for walks, playtime with a ball, sniffing and exploring, and then relaxing with a coffee while the dogs enjoy their freedom. If a dog is comfortable in those settings, we’re also happy to take them to cafés, markets or on public transport. Chandra especially loves being included in everything we do!

Gretel works mostly from home, so there is usually someone around during the day. Mohammad works in Rotterdam and also takes care of the pups whenever he's home (specially on weekends).

Our apartment is small, so we can only welcome one additional dog at a time, which allows us to give each dog plenty of attention. We have two dog-safe balconies and a safe outdoor area at the front, but our main “garden” is Erasmuspark just around the corner 🌳

Because we don’t have an elevator and Chandra cannot manage the stairs on her own, dogs staying with us need to be able to walk up and down stairs independently.

We’ve cared for many different dogs through Pawshake, including shy dogs, anxious dogs and dogs who needed extra patience or structure. We’re very comfortable with routines, special diets, medication and reinforcing good walking and food manners. Shy dogs are very welcome, they often turn out to be the sweetest 🥰

We offer dog boarding, doggy daycare and home visits for both dogs and cats. For home visits, Chandra can sometimes come along, or stay at home if preferred.

The most important thing for us is that your dog feels safe, happy and well cared for while you’re away 😊
