Hi! I’m Valentina, an 18yo Italian currently staying in De Jordaan, Amsterdam. One of the hardest parts about being here has been leaving my pets back in Italy. I grew up surrounded by animals, so not having them around every day is something I really miss.

Unfortunately, the house I’m staying in doesn’t allow pets, so looking after other people’s furry family members is the closest thing I have to having my own animals here. It genuinely makes me happy, and I love every opportunity to spend time with them.

Growing up, I had several dogs, mostly medium and large breeds, as well as many cats, so I’m used to different personalities, energy levels and routines. I’ve always loved getting to know each animal’s unique character. Some are full of energy and love long walks, while others are shy and just need a little patience before they feel comfortable. I always let them set the pace and make sure they feel safe and relaxed.

I’m a calm, caring and reliable person, and I know how important it is to trust the person looking after your pet. During walks, I usually spend between 30 minutes and an hour outside, depending on your dog’s age, energy level and routine. I love letting dogs explore, sniff around and enjoy their walk instead of rushing from one place to another.

If I’m visiting your pet at home, I’ll make sure they have fresh water, food, playtime, lots of attention and plenty of affection if they enjoy cuddles. I’ll carefully follow any instructions you leave, so your pet can stick to their usual routine and feel as comfortable as possible while you’re away. I’ll also send regular photos and updates because I know how reassuring it is to know your pet is happy and doing well.

Although I’m new to Pawshake, caring for animals isn’t new to me. I understand that pets are family, and I’d never treat them as “just another booking.” My goal is to make them feel loved, safe and cared for, while giving you complete peace of mind.
