I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, so being around them has always felt very natural to me. We had a large dog when I was very young, and when I was five, we got our Bobtail (Old English Sheepdog), who was part of our family until I was 19. Growing up with dogs is a big reason why I have such a strong love for them and feel very comfortable caring for them. Since my dog passed away, I really miss having a dog around, which is one of the reasons I enjoy dog sitting so much. I regularly look after my brother’s girlfriend’s small poodle, I’ve taken care of dogs belonging to friends and family, and I also have previous dog-sitting experience here in Amsterdam. I’m very affectionate and attentive with dogs, and after growing up with them, I feel I can read their behaviour quite well and understand what they’re trying to communicate. Whether they want to play, go outside, eat, rest or simply want some company and cuddles, I always try to make them feel safe, comfortable and loved. When a dog stays with me, I follow their usual feeding and walking routine, make sure they always have fresh water, and give them plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m also very careful when walking dogs in Amsterdam, particularly around bikes, traffic and busy streets, and I will always follow any specific instructions you give me. I live in a cozy 50m² one-bedroom apartment in central Amsterdam. I’m currently home most of the time, so your dog will have plenty of company and will rarely need to be left alone. If I do need to go out, it would normally only be for around 1–2 hours, and I can adapt this depending on what your dog is used to and comfortable with. There are plenty of nice places nearby for daily walks, and I’m also happy to take longer walks to Vondelpark. For smaller dogs that are comfortable using public transport, I can also take them to places such as Sarphatipark and its dog area. Although I grew up with larger dogs and am very comfortable around them, for dogs staying overnight in my apartment I currently prefer small to medium-sized dogs, so I can make sure they have enough space and are completely comfortable. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy having dogs around. I miss having my own dog, so looking after yours is something I would really enjoy rather than simply see as a job. I’ll treat them with the same care and affection I would give my own. 🐶🤍
