Hi! I’m Daniela, I’m Portuguese and have been living in Amsterdam for almost 10 years. I grew up surrounded by dogs, from Yorkies and Dachshunds to German Shepherds, and later on my mom also got cats, which I’ve grown to love too. I also occasionally look after friends’ dogs and cats. Since I can’t have a pet of my own at the moment, I’d love to have some animal company through Pawshake :)

I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes and ages, including puppies and senior dogs. I’m happy to take them for walks, play with them, feed them, keep them company and have them stay overnight. Walks would normally be around 30–60 minutes, depending on what your dog is used to and how much exercise they need. I love taking dogs along when I can, whether that’s for a walk through Westerpark or around the city, but I’m equally happy having a lazy afternoon and some cuddles at home.

I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, including weekdays and weekends, so I’m generally around most of the day. I may occasionally leave for a couple of hours to exercise, run errands or meet someone, but I wouldn’t leave a pet alone for longer than around 3–4 hours. I also have a housemate who is a pet lover and is often at home, so even when I’m out there may still be someone around to keep them company.

I live right by Westerpark in a spacious 60m² apartment with a large balcony. I would generally host one pet at a time, or multiple pets from the same household, so they can get plenty of attention and feel comfortable in the space.

For cats, I’m happy to look after friendly and manageable cats who enjoy some company, but I’m also very happy to give them their space when they want it. I know they tend to make those decisions for themselves anyway :)
