Hi, I’m Julie, 26, originally from Luxembourg and living in Amsterdam West, between the Vondelpark and the Rembrandtpark. Dogs are my favourite thing in life. At eight I started walking and training my neighbour’s Border Collie every day, just for the joy of it. Since then I’ve always had dogs around me: Golden Retrievers, a Jack Russell mix, and camping holidays with a friend’s pack of nine, where I helped care for them and did agility. At home in Luxembourg we have three dogs, and I’ve looked after them for years. One is a shelter dog who started out barky and wary of other dogs and is now reliable off leash. Another is a beagle rescued from a laboratory, who needed a lot of patience before she trusted us. I’ve also lived with a dog with a heart condition, so I’m used to watching older or more fragile dogs closely. Because of this, I’m comfortable with shy, reactive, pulling, high-energy and senior dogs, and I know how to give several dogs attention fairly. I’m not a certified trainer, but I enjoy teaching manners and tricks to motivated dogs. I’ve just finished my master’s and chose to spend the coming months fully focused on dogs. I’m available on weekdays and weekends, and your dog will have my full attention. What a day with me includes: 3-6 walks, adapted to your dog’s age, energy and your home (an apartment usually means more walks than a house with a garden). Younger or energetic dogs get at least 30 minutes per walk, and longer forest walks are possible. I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine for feeding and rest, and add play, basic training, cuddles and drying off/washing after muddy walks. I send you photo updates. Good to know: I prefer to stay at your home so your dog stays in familiar surroundings. I have a car for forest or beach outings, and I’m happy to walk more than one dog at a time. I’d love a meet-and-greet first, and I’ll make sure I have your vet’s details before you leave. I speak English, German, French and Luxembourgish, and understand some Dutch.
