Top cities for house sitting in The Netherlands

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Almere home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Almere.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Almere home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hello! My name is Jam, and I am passionate about animals and making sure they feel safe, loved, and happy at all times. I have a special place in my heart for pets, as I share my home with Nefer, my 4-year-old rescue cat from Cyprus, who is the sweetest and most gentle companion. Caring for Nefer has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of creating a calm environment for animals.
I have experience looking after cats and small pets, and I understand how unique every animal’s needs and personality are. I offer personalised care, ensuring your pet’s routine and preferences are respected. For the safety of all animals in my care, I accept only vaccinated pets.
My motivation to become a pet sitter comes from my genuine love for animals and my desire to help pet owners feel confident that their furry friends are in trustworthy hands. I look forward to meeting your pet and providing the care they deserve!

Hi! I'm a passionate and caring animal lover. Since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to animals, and being around them brings me immense joy. I love spending time with them, understanding their unique personalities, and giving them the attention and care they deserve.
As a pet sitter, I offer more than just looking after your pets. I provide companionship, love, and a stress-free environment for them while you're away. I understand how much they mean to you, and I take pride in ensuring they feel safe, happy, and well-cared for in your absence. I'm also in contact with my best friend, who is a dog educator, and with her I try to improve my knowledge in the field.
This isn’t just a temporary thing for me, it's what I love to do, and I plan on being available for pet sitting long into the future. You can trust that your pets will be in loving and reliable hands with me!

As a child, I always had pets around me—cats, dogs, ducks, chickens… all kinds of animals! I’ve always shared a special bond with them, and over the years, my love for animals has only grown stronger.

Four years ago, I moved from my hometown in Greece to the Netherlands, which meant leaving all my pets with my parents. Now, I live in Eemnes with my partner and our cat, Poe.

Ever since I had to leave my dog behind, I’ve really missed dog cuddles, long walks, and spending time with furry companions. I would love to share that love and care with your dog! We can go for walks in nature, visit parks, play together, and enjoy dog-friendly areas nearby.

I also enjoy teaching them little tricks, giving them lots of attention, and making sure they have the best time while they’re away from their favorite human.

Your pet will be in loving and trustworthy hands, and I’ll do my very best to make sure we have a wonderful time together!

34 year old British lad from London, living in Ijburg (Amsterdam Oost) for nearly 8 years. The Netherlands is now my 'home'! Since I was about 2-3 years old, I've been obsessed with animals and fun fact - I made my parents tape every single episode of BBC's Wildlife on One and Wildlife on Two television series, all on VHS... all still in my family home!
For the last 12 years, I've worked as a music strategist and marketing consultant, advising artists, managers, promoters, festivals and music apps on helping them achieve their goals. I'm single, and so looking for some animal interaction to level up my 'working from home' days. I often host other artists, managers, and other music executives at my house regularly - hospitality is in my blood, and so love making a place cosy, clean and comfortable for others.
I love animals. I've travelled the world staying in biological reserves in the Amazon Rainforest in Peru, go to South India's National Parks every year to trek after tigers, elephants and more, kayaked and walked to uncover eagles & bears in Albania, and have helped raise many of my friends' and family's pets growing up. There's something special about a connection with an animal, and their intrinsic, unconditional love.
I have wanted my own pet since I was a young child. I became the annoying son always asking my parents every Christmas. But a career in music means I am regularly travelling the globe, producing stages and campaigns for artists and live events, and so, for me, animal ownership is something that will come later in life, when I can be a responsible and fully committed, loving owner. In the meantime, I have SO much love to give to pets, and have spent many years babysitting pets, and children, and sometimes even both at the same time haha!

Hoi!

I would feed the animals after waking up then bring dogs out for a short walk. The afternoon I usually do the big walk and play, usually to a park nearby. And in the evening another walk before dinner and before bed. And of course I can adjust this schedule depending on what your animals need.
My home is pretty pet friendly, the plugs even have baby stoppers on them so the pets can't shock themselves. The longest I'm out for is 3-4 hours, when I'm home I give the animals lots of attention and like to make stimulation games for them so they can be entertained.
I don't mind pets on the furniture. I have some experience with temperamental dogs, but not a lot. Aggressive animals I dont handle well, but nervous ones I can. I live in a decently quiet area where we can avoids busy streets
I'm pretty flexible schedule wise. I live near a beach (Dutch beach ) and a couple parks and nice walking paths. Walk durations would depend on what your dog needs and what my schedule allows but I'll try my best to accommodate.
Since I moved to Amsterdam I take care of some of my friends' animals (cats, dogs, rabbits) I've done day sitting, pick ups for walks, long stays, short stays. And if I haven't done it, happy to learn.
During emergency situations I usually contact the vet first to understand if the situation requires more attention or not, and then call the owner to keep them informed. I can adjust this depending on what you're more comfortable with.
Anyway I'd love to help take care of your pets too if you need the support :)) and be patient when they need a bit more time to learn trust me 🫶🏻

Vraag me gerust alles.JackEN:I grew up with cats, dogs and right from my childhood had many experiences with pets and how they understand how each cat is different and all have their own way of communicating
Living myself in Bussum, I can take care of your pets, share photos and can also go on walks if needed.

I have also experiences to make new pets to stay together and slowly make them used to each other in the same environment.
I can speak English and Dutch. I can share photos and also water your plants if needed.

Currently I have a sweet cat and she is trained to walk along like a dog :-) also she can sit till food is served and I can guide them too.

Feel free to ask me for anything.
