Top cities for house sitting in The Netherlands

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Alkmaar home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Alkmaar.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Alkmaar home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

My name is Ela and I am 24 years old. I am a student and I currently live in Zaanstad. I have had two dogs of one of which has passed away. One of my dogs was a female labrador called Milka while my current dog (who lives with my parents) is a male maltipoodle called Atlas.
I love being with dogs, no matter the circumstances. I have had many positive experiences with dogs whether they are stray animals or house pets. I believe that dogs calm me down and I can say that I am definitely a dog person. My motivation for applying to be a dog sitter is so that I can spend time with dogs while being away from my own dog, Atlas. I spend about four to five months away from home in some instances and I miss being in the presence of my dog!
Due to the fact that im living in a student housing for around 9 months I can only offer services which take place at your place. During my time in Rotterdam, i have had many home visits/house sitting. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Hoi!

Hoi! Mijn naam is Marleen.

Hi! My name is Gabriela — but you can call me Gabi!
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember. Throughout my life, I’ve had dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, birds, and even an aquarium — and taking care of them has always brought me joy and peace.
I’m naturally a very affectionate and responsible person, and I truly believe our pets deserve the same care, love, and attention that we would give to a family member.
I currently live with my elderly Schnauzer, Renato — the love of my life — who is very calm and gentle. He’s used to being around other animals and is always welcoming. My mom also lives with me. She is a retired nurse and shares the same love and care for animals that I do. ️
My mom and I provide pet-sitting services together. We work as a team to make sure every pet receives plenty of attention, care, and supervision throughout their stay. Having two of us also means your pet is never simply left on their own, and we can give them the individual attention they need.
Our motivation to be pet sitters comes from our genuine love for animals and the happiness we feel when we can make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved — especially when their owners can’t be around. Between us, we have experience with pets of different personalities, ages, and needs.
We are happy to care for pets in your home or welcome them into ours, depending on the service. Safety, well-being, and making your pet feel comfortable are always our top priorities.
We look forward to meeting your furry (or fluffy, feathery, or finned!) companion soon!

I love animals and I always will dus u kunt u huisdier met een gerust hart bij mij brengen.

As a lifelong animal lover, I have a genuine passion for caring for both cats and dogs. Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities — from shy rescue cats who need patience and understanding, to energetic puppies full of curiosity and playfulness. I’m loving, attentive, and calm, and I always focus on creating a stress-free, happy environment where your furry friend feels safe and comfortable. I enjoy long walks, engaging playtime, and cozy cuddle sessions, adapting my care to match your pet’s unique needs and temperament. I carefully follow your instructions to ensure routines are maintained and your pet feels secure, even when you’re away. I’m available on weekends, holidays, and for longer stays, and I especially love spending time with friendly dogs and sweet or independent cats. With me, your pet will always be in gentle, reliable, and caring hands.

I’ve always felt a genuine love for animals, and becoming a pet sitter feels like the perfect way to turn that passion into something meaningful. What I enjoy most is creating a calm, comfortable experience for pets while their owners are away. Since I offer home visits, I focus on keeping your pet’s routine as familiar as possible—feeding at the right times, giving them the attention they’re used to, and making sure they feel safe in their own environment.
Over the years, I’ve cared for the pets of friends, family, and neighbors, including dogs, cats, and smaller animals. Whether your pet is playful, shy, energetic, or prefers quiet companionship, I take the time to understand their personality and adapt to their needs. I’m patient, gentle, and attentive, and I truly enjoy building trust with each animal I care for.
Because I visit pets in their own homes, I don’t require them to be vaccinated. My main priority is their wellbeing and comfort. I’m committed to giving your pet reliable, loving care so you can leave home with peace of mind, knowing they’re in good hands.

Hi there! My name is Catarina and obviously I love dogs.I'm 30 years old and I'm Portuguese. All my life I had cats in my family house, until one day I found an adult dog in a Municipal Kennel and I couldn't take my eyes of him ️His name was Rufus, a beautiful medium black dog.He was afraid of people and very scared of other dogs, almost bitting others. He stayed in my life for only 5 years, the best 5 years of my life.He improved so much with training and love. We went to the beach, parks, vacations, everything together.I learn so much with him and I miss him a lot.He died in 2021 because of Vestibular Syndrome. That is why I want to walk other dog, to fill again the uncondional love that they make us fill and to teach them everything I know.PS: So many years later I now have two beautiful dogs, which is why I remove the services that involves my house.
