Top cities for dog boarding in The Netherlands

For pet parents, one of the hardest things about going to work each day is wondering what your dog will get up to while you are gone. At Pawshake, we understand that dogs need activity and interaction during the day, so why not book your dog with one of our trusted sitters in Sassenheim for a doggy day care service? You can drop your dog off at the sitter’s home on the way to work or organise with your local Sassenheim Pawshake sitter to pick up and drop off your dog for you.

Pet day care is a great way to keep your dog mentally and physically active during the day so that you can come home to a happy, relaxed dog. Pawshake’s home day care service is great for young dogs who need constant supervision: puppy daycare allows your pup to maintain a consistent routine, which is important during the toilet training process. It’s also a great option for dogs who need extra care and attention, or those who are extra active.

Our sitters who offer doggy day care and puppy daycare services are more adaptable than your average big day care centre. Numbers are kept small and some Pawshake sitters will only take in one dog at a time. This means they can work around your timing and any special requirements your dog may have. So, let your four-legged best friend enjoy their day with a fun and loving Sassenheim sitter who will shower them with love and dedicated attention. On top of that, you will also get photos and updates during the day so that you can follow your dog’s day care adventures!

Every day care booking also comes included with The Pawshake Guarantee, which includes veterinary coverage, customer service support 7 days a week and more.

Hi everyone! My name is Makiko, I am from Tokyo, Japan.
I live in Leiden, Hoge Mors zone. I am a housewife, so I am very flexible with time and I would love to help you with your pet. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you need anything or just want to ask me something.
I can't imagine how life is without animals, which I love so much. I was born in a town surrounded by nature with many animals like cows, sheeps, raccoons, monkeys, and many others.
I spent my all life with dogs in Japan, Italy, and the Netherlands taking care of my dogs, friends' dogs and neighborhood dogs! I enjoy it so much!I love taking care of pets, cats and dogs of any size, gender and age and taking care of more than one dog is not a problem for me thanks to all the experience I have collected during the last 10 years, abroad and in the Netherlands, with so many different dogs.
I am very patient, scrupulous, punctual and careful. The happiness of the pets and the satisfaction of the owners are the absolute priority. I will follow carefully your instructions concerning all aspects of the life of your pet (walking duration, dietary necessities, playing attitude and more).
If you live with a cat just let me know what life style he prefers and I will follow your instructions.
If you have a dog, I can bring him for walk and play whit him accordingly with his needs. Old dogs need a short walk, other dogs need to run and play longer and more time per day. I will help your dog to maintain his lifestyle the closest as possible to the one she is used with you.
My house is a house with a garden with a fence and spacious green areas close by. There is a lot of space to walk in the surrounding area.
I live with my husband, my 13 years old daughter and one English bulldog (6 year-old).
The pet guest staying at my place will have the space to sleep accordingly with what kind of pet is and your instructions.
I am looking forward to reading from you and I wish you a great day.Makikop.s. Prices for Dog Boarding, Doggy day care and House sitting are just a reference, so please contact me and let's discuss about. The rate changes accordingly to how log your pet needs my assistance.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi! My name is Amy, and I’m a lifelong animal lover based in Haarlem, right on the edge of beautiful nature. I live with my three animal loving kids (8,11 & 14 ) & husband.
I’m lucky to live near parks, forests, and the beach – all perfect for fun, stimulating dog walks. I share my home with my own happy pack: a lovely dog and a cats, who keep me smiling every day.
With a lifetime of experience caring for both dogs and cats, I understand how important it is to give pets love, attention, and the right care tailored to their personalities and needs.
Whether your dog loves long beach runs or your cat just wants some gentle company while you’re away, I’m here to help.
I offer reliable, compassionate pet sitting and dog walking services, treating every animal like they’re my own. I work two days per week and on those days my husband is home the whole day. I’d love to meet you and your furry friends!

Pet Care Experience
With a lifetime of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, I bring a deep understanding of the unique needs of each individual pet. From large breeds to small, from high-energy dogs to those needing extra attention, I have developed the ability to not only provide essential care but also enrich their lives through engaging play, affection, and companionship. I understand that dogs are sentient beings who require not only the fulfillment of their physical needs but also emotional support, structure, and a nurturing environment.

What sets me apart from other sitters is my unwavering commitment to treating your dog as if they were my own. I am dedicated to ensuring your pet feels secure, loved, and constantly attended to, never left alone or neglected. Whether it’s managing the specific needs of puppies in training or offering attentive care to senior dogs, my approach is one of professionalism, responsibility, and a genuine love for animals. You can rest assured knowing your furry companion is in safe, caring hands, with their well-being and happiness always my top priority.

Schedule
As I recently finished my University degree and I’m currently not employed, I have the flexibility and availability to dedicate myself fully to the care of your pet. My open schedule allows me to be available every day of the week, at any hour that suits your needs. This means your dog will always be my top priority, receiving the undivided attention and care they deserve. Whether it's for daily walks, extended stays, or spontaneous check-ins, I am always ready to provide consistent, attentive care around the clock, ensuring that your pet's routine is seamlessly maintained.

Safety, Trust & Environment

I pride myself on creating a warm, welcoming, and dog-friendly environment for all pets under my care. While my living space is small, it offers a cozy, calm and relaxed atmosphere where dogs feel safe and at home. I live in a quiet student housing facility, with my own private room, ensuring no disturbances. Previous dog clients have loved the freedom of my space, where they are allowed to explore and relax, following any guidelines set by their owners. Whether it's choosing their favorite spot to sleep or simply having a peaceful place to unwind, your dog will have the comfort they deserve.

In addition to the indoor environment, I have a secure, dog-friendly garden right outside, perfect for playtime, potty breaks, and safe exploration. Just beyond the garden is a beautiful park, ideal for walks and outdoor activities, providing ample opportunity for fresh air and exercise.

If your dog feels more comfortable staying in its own home, I can accommodate that as well. I take care to follow your specific instructions, ensuring consistency with their routine, feeding schedule, and any special needs they may have. Whether in my home or yours, their safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities.

A Typical Day

A typical day with your dog will be tailored to their individual preferences and routines, ensuring they feel right at home while in my care. I strive to replicate the activities they enjoy most with their owner, providing a sense of familiarity and comfort. Whether it’s a morning walk in the nearby park or relaxing time in the garden, your dog’s needs and preferences come first.

For dogs who love affection, I offer plenty of petting and cuddles—creating a loving, nurturing atmosphere. Walks are scheduled according to their energy level and requirements, whether it's a leisurely stroll or a more active run around the park. If your dog enjoys playtime, I’ll incorporate their favorite toys brought from home or my own collection of balls and soft toys for them to chase, fetch, or chew. For high-energy dogs, I can organize agility-style games in the garden, helping them burn off energy in a fun, engaging way.

Rest assured, they will never be left unattended, and my full attention will be focused on their happiness and well-being. I also love spending quiet moments with them, offering comfort and companionship, especially for dogs that thrive on affection. Often missing my own dog, I understand how important it is to create a bond with every pet in my care, ensuring they receive all the love, attention, and care they deserve.

Important to Know About Your Pet

Please inform me of any special needs or specific behaviors your dog may have so I can provide the best possible care. I have extensive experience working with dogs who have separation anxiety, and I understand the extra attention and reassurance they require. Additionally, I am comfortable caring for female dogs in heat, as well as non-neutered male dogs, and can adapt to their unique needs without issue.

While I have a particular fondness for poodles and griffons (due to my own dogs), I love and welcome all dog breeds, each with their own unique personality. My goal is to ensure that your dog feels secure, understood, and well cared for, no matter their breed or specific needs. Let me know any details, routines, or preferences ahead of time, so I can tailor my approach to suit your dog’s individual requirements.

My Inspiration:

Though my beloved dog Juicy is currently in Greece with my family, she remains a huge part of my life and heart. I wanted to share her with the pet community because she is, without a doubt, my dog and the inspiration behind why I started this job. Missing her so deeply has fueled my passion for caring for other people’s pets, ensuring they receive the same love and attention I would give to her. Every dog I care for is a way of honoring that bond, and I bring that same level of affection and dedication to each pet I meet.

Hello hello! I have family dogs of my own that live back in the US and I miss them every day. I love to spend time with animals, if I pet a dog my day is infinitely better. I love seeing their personalities and joy, taking them for walks, playing with toys or just sitting together. I'm patient, having a rescue dog that was found abandoned on the street I am familiar with their quirks and anxieties, and let them adjust and tell me what they need from me.
I have stayed with both dogs and cats (from 2 kittens to 4 cats) many times as a pet and house sitter, and also done visits to just check in and feed them. Obviously having my own dogs and taking care of their dog friends, I have walked multiple dogs and given them both attention so no one gets all dramatic and jealous. I have had pets since I was about 10, first a rabbit, and then dogs, including Labradors and a rescue we think is an Eskimo-Jack Russell (but who knows).
This may be about taking care of the animal, but honestly they take care of us too don't they? I'd love to chat about your pet!
All the best,
Petra
References are available. I also have several regulars I work with separate from pawshake.
PLEASE NOTE!
- I am currently working 2 days a week (usually thursday Friday) in The Hague and am away from Leiden those days from 9:30/10:00 until 7ish. Sundays I usually work 12-5 in Leiden. I leave work days open as I've been able to make arrangements around it and arrive after for example or for visiting cats or cats staying at my house that has been alright.
-Happy to do pet sitting in Den Haag also but for visits/walks it is limited to Leiden area. For walks and visits I always hang out with the pet for a while rather than just pop in and leave.
-Open to having pets stay at my apartment upon request/discussion but I will have at least two workdays as mentioned. Small dogs only for boarding as it is not a big apartment.
-Currently taking bookings up to approx one month in advance.
Thank you!

I’ve had dogs in my life since I was two years old. My first dog, Sultan, was my best friend growing up. He taught me how special the bond between humans and dogs can be. No matter what happened in the world, I knew he would always be there with unconditional love. After 16 wonderful years with him, he became ill and we had to say goodbye. A few years later, Martini came into my life. She is now 14 years old and deaf, and I’ve had the privilege of being her very proud “furry mama.” Caring for a senior dog has taught me a lot about patience, attentiveness, and understanding a dog’s needs.I know how much love, care, and responsibility goes into having a dog, and I would love to provide the same attention for your pet. While I don’t have professional dog-sitting experience yet, I have a lifetime of experience living with and caring for dogs.I’d be happy to walk your dog, visit them during the day, and spend time playing and keeping them company. Because my own dog is older, I can’t host dogs overnight, but I’m very happy to help with walks and daytime visits.I believe dogs are incredibly intuitive and know when they’re around someone who truly cares about them. I would love to meet your unique furry friend and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved.I can’t wait to meet your best friend

Hi! I’m Bob, a pet lover based in Leiden, and I’d be happy to take care of your furry friend while you’re away.
Although I don’t currently have a pet of my own, animals have always been part of my life. I had a cat in the past, and for the last three years I’ve regularly been pet sitting dogs of all sizes for friends. Spending time with animals is something I truly enjoy — dogs especially have a special place in my heart, and they usually feel comfortable with me very quickly.
I live in a cozy apartment in Leiden, without a garden or balcony, but I’m lucky to be surrounded by beautiful canals and large green parks, perfect for long, relaxed walks. I have a calm and caring personality, but I also enjoy being active outdoors, so your dog will get both affection and proper exercise.
I work full time but mostly from home, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention during the day. I’m mainly available on weekdays, and I make sure pets are never left alone for long periods.
I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully and I’m comfortable with basic training and positive reinforcement. I’m good at setting gentle but clear boundaries, which helps dogs feel safe and relaxed. Of course, you’ll also receive regular photo updates, so you can travel with peace of mind.
I do pet sitting because I genuinely love animals and miss having one around. For me, it’s about creating meaningful, caring moments and making sure your pet feels at home, happy, and well looked after.
My routine will be determined on the dog's needs. If a dog walks 2 or 3 times a day I will be more than happy to do this.
I’d love to meet you and your pet, feel free to reach out anytime!

Hi, I am Ahsen! I’ve always loved being around animals, even though I don’t have a pet of my own at the moment. I often take care of my friends’ cats and dogs whenever I get the chance. Spending time with them really makes me happy, and I know how much comfort and joy they bring into our lives.

For me, pet sitting isn’t just about feeding or walking them, it’s about making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. I enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality - whether that means playtime, going for a walk, or just sitting together and keeping them company.

I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’d love the chance to give your pet the same care and attention I would give my own.

I am happy to take care of your dog for day care or overnight. I can also provide dog walking or home visits.

Hello. I have always been fond of animals all my life and I look forward to any opportunity to spend time with them and take care of them.
I have a dog back home, a labrador retriever, Simba and not a day goes by when I don't miss him. Not lying, I am really craving some quality time with these fur balls, it makes me very happy. I see my Simba in all dogs, so I will treat your pet like my own. I am looking forward to spending my time taking care of your pet and keeping them happy.
I am offering house boarding for your pet and pamper them with never-ending cuddles, long walks, games, and treats at your home. Along with general grooming, I am also capable of administering oral medications.
I live with my partner and we both work full time jobs in hybrid mode, so the pet needs to stay alone for 6-8hrs only 3 days a week.
Regular photos and updates will be sent to you, so you don't miss them too much. I speak fluent English and am slowly learning Dutch, so hopefully, I can communicate with your pet with the usual words.
For any specific questions or more information feel free to contact me. Looking forward to meeting you but being honest, more excited to meet your fur baby!!

Hoi!
