Hi! My name is Deborah, I moved to The Hague from Italy six months ago. I have three cats in Italy that I love very much, they are 14, 13 and 6 years old. I also had a dog, Gina, that was 16 years old when she left us and a turtle named Ninja. After 10 years, she was too big for our family space, so we donated her to a turtle reserve where she's living her best life in the best company and we get to visit her when we want to. My sister has a German Sheperd, he is 8 years old right now. All of our pets were living together, the cats, the turtle, my dog, and my sister's dog was also spending a lot of time with us.
I could not bring my cats with me, since they are used to their home, with my mother... I miss so much their love and affection. Not to mention the love and affection I received from Gina, with which I shared the best part of my younger years. At the same time I cannot take any pets with me here since I'm still traveling back and forth from Italy sometimes and I cannot think of leaving them for long periods or having to burden them with a lot of flights.
I thought that being a pet carer could have been the best solution: I'm eager to give all the love I'm capable of to someone else's pet that needs a warm and safe place to stay or that needs to go out and run and play. It just brings me pure joy to know that I can have the company of the pets, offering an essential and reliable service to their owners.
Maybe i have been very lucky, or maybe I have done my job well, but my pets have always lived a long and happy life. I'm not a professional but they have been very well taken care of. They are (and were) also very well educated. I like to think from their perspective (what they like, what they feel) and I'm also very attentive in general and if particular requests are being made.
At the moment I don't have another job, so I can dedicate a lot of time to our beloved friends. I live with my fiance in a big apartment with a balcony, in front of a park and within walking distance to the beach. I speak Italian, fluent English, French, a little bit of Spanish and I just started to learn Dutch.
I will accept only two boardings per day, and two walks or visits per day. Therefore my calendar will be punctually adjourned.
I do not house sit pets in the owner house, while I can arrange the transport to my home and back, where needed.
I can take any size dog for the walking and house visits services, but I can only host small to medium size pets in my apartment, because of the space.
When undertaking a service, I will be fully committed to it. During daycare or boarding, the pets will be around the house as if it's their own home and they will be bedded inside. I will take them to long walks when possible, otherwise at least 30 minutes per walk three times a day will be assured.
I am a clean person, I love to keep my house tidy and in order, so the environment where pets will spend their time will be clean as well. I am also kind of minimalist so the majority of the space available is free from objects or furniture.
Pets will be never left alone, except for some grocery shopping down the street. I will ensure the safety of puppies or little animals in the balcony. Bigger animals are already safe on the balcony and have no way of escaping (I am living in the second floor of the building). Concerning cats, I will personally take agreements with the owner wheter if it's possible to let the cat outside or not.
I will be available for any further question or arrangement via messages, calls or in person. I will use the Intake Form provided by Pawshake to have every pet registered, to avoid miscommunications and to have all the information I need about your friends so they can feel as comfortable as possible when they are with me.
In conclusion, I enjoy being with the animals. Taking care of them does not represent a burden to me but a pleasure. They will always find extra cares and extra cuddles in my home. I will look after them as if they were my own.
Deborah took great care of our dog at her place during a week-end. She is very flexible, calm, and has a good feeling with animals. We definitely recommend her to take care of your pets!
Very happy with Deborah's dog-sitting service! She is friendly, careful, and great with dogs, and our little dog Toby absolutely loved his time with her. We have already booked Toby's next stay with her!
