My name is Robin Colbey, I'm 22 years old, from Portsmouth, England and I have studied in the Netherlands since August 2015. Before I moved to Utrecht in 2018, I lived in Middelburg, Zeeland where I studied at University College Roosevelt. As a child our family had a tortoiseshell cat called Miffi. Throughout my teenage years our family had a American beagle called Bentley. Since moving here I haven't owned a pet but in the future I'd like to. I have also missed being around animals whilst being in the Netherlands. In Middelburg I worked as part of a dog walking service (HUSM) which also involved feeding cats. I am also a volunteer at the Dierenaziel in Utrecht which looks after both cats and dogs. I have also passed the mandatory training course which all volunteers have to do if they want to walk and take care of dogs. The course specifically teaches how to understand the body language of dogs, the different character traits of the different breeds, how to stay safe and keep your dog safe in the home and whilst outside and to understand how to keep a dog healthy.
Personally, I am comfortable walking any dog breed as well as handling cats. I am also happy to be around (multiple) animals for prolonged periods of time.
Robin is not just a lovely person, but he is so gentle and friendly in his demeanour and in his treatment of the animals. He was great with our furkids and even the shy ones (who normally take long to settle with strangers) warmed up to him within a short period of time. We highly recommend Robin and will certainly use him again for house sitting the kids.
