Hello hello petowner, let me tell you a bit about myself!
My name is Yaël, I'm South-African/Spanish, 21 year old and currently studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College of Utrecht.
I speak English, Dutch and Spanish fluently, love the outdoors and being active, and absolutely adore animals.
Since moving to The Netherlands, I noticed how much I started missing the company of my dogs, and started looking around for dogwalking jobs. When a friend told me about Pawshake I saw it as the perfect opportunity to not only get some much needed furry company, but also a perfect way to get to know Utrecht!
Until the age of 12 I grew up on farmland, surrounded by sheep, cows, goats, donkeys, chickens, dogs and cats, and consider myself a BIG animal lover! I've volunteered for two years at the animal shelter where we received basic canine training and were taught to treat many domestic animals with physical and mental health issues.
If your pet has any special needs please let me know in advance as I would like to discuss any procedures in detail to make sure that your companion(s) is(are) well taken care of!
Procedurally I like to meet the pet owners and get acquainted with the animals on a meet and greet to feel out the dynamics and not be a stranger when I pet-sit! If face to face arrangements are not possible a phone or Skype call can always be arranged!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to send me a message!
Regards
Yaël
Having used Yaël once before I was very relaxed in asking her to take care of our dogs for a longer period of time. It was also great to have someone responsible staying at our house over the holiday period as all our neighbours were away. She took the dogs on lovely long walks and immediately contacted us when our bigger dog had a brush with a hedgehog in the backyard one evening. It has happened before so we could put her mind at ease that both dog and hedgehog would be fine. Will definitely use her again.
Yaël stayed in our house to look after our dogs. She took them for walks twice a day and they looked very happy on our return. We booked her for our annual 2 week holiday in August, but then when a business trip of my husband overlapped with a trip the kids and I went on we needed her earlier and she responded quickly and were able to help us for the 5 additional nights. I am happy to know that she will be looking after our dogs when we go on holiday.
I am comfortable administering medicine to all animals, I have experience injecting insuline in both elderly dogs and cats
I am up for grooming the pet, and have experience grooming coats, clipping nails and cleaning ears!
I have taken care of newly born litters of kittens and puppies.
In the shelter I often dealt with animals (specifically dogs, cats and rabbits) with anxiety and low stress tolerance, or abandontment related issues.
If your pet has any special needs (disabilities, medical issues, emotional needs), I will make sure to always take them into consideration!
I consider myself to be a very patient and calm person, but also know how to have some good fun playing with pets that are up for it!
All breeds, species, sizes loved equally! Furry, feathered or scaled, I am a petsitter to all!
