Hello hello everyone,
I'm Hellen (37 years) and live in Rotterdam Blijdorp with my husband Ruben (38 years) and our two cockatiels Monty and Cheeto (3 years). I have been pet sitting in the past during my time as a student for friends who owned an Old English Mastiff. I also used to take care of a Belgian shepherd and a Yorkshire Terrier. I care also for cats such as Maine Coons or mixed breeds that came from the shelter. Unfortunately, due to my cat allergy I cannot sit cats in our own home but instead I do go to the owner's home to take care of their kittens. Whenever my neighbors are on vacations I take care of their cats as well. I do spend my time with them by feeding, brushing, and playing with them (and of course cleaning after them 😉). Just to build some sort of connection while I'm with them and to see their trust building towards me.
I also sit cockatiels and have been taking care of several in the past (up to 7 including my own).
I used to own parakeets, cockatiels, bunnies and hamsters in my childhood but never cats and dogs because my mother was not into them. I still would like to have a dog (cat I can't have because of my allergy) but due to several circumstances we can't. So instead I like to become a petsitter for others. I actually am a weekly dog sitter already for 3 dogs (1 mixed breed bull terrier called Alba, 1 mixed breed shitzu-cocker spaniel called Oscar, 1 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Bella). On occasion I also sit for 1 mixed breed Dachshund-Poodle called Rocco. My little pack I call 'My little Musketeers' because they're so cute and funny when being together out on a walk 🙂😍. It's fun to watch them interact together and having a good time together as well as to observe how well they get along. Generally, when I'm with my musketeers I treat them like my own and it makes me happy every time when they come to me by their own free will to hang around with me or to get some cuddles 😁.
Dogs I have for daycare I generally try to assess by their level of energy how much exercise they'll be needing. So most of the time I take long walks in the afternoon between 1-3 hours depending on how much they need it and whether they're capable to go for that long. For dogs at a young age I go on shorter walks. The walks in the mornings and evenings I make it 30-60 minutes, also depending on the dog how much he or she needs.
Depending on the dog I also go out by bike with them or longboarding. Sometimes during my walks with the dogs in the forest I run together with them to establish a bond. But most of all I love their faces brightening up during a run 'together'. Because here I can see how much fun they have doing it. That's for me proof that they like being together with me and that they're having 'fun' 🙂.
I do my best to accommodate the needs of the owners and try to keep up the routine their pets are used to. So whenever I get a new request for pet sitting irrespective of a dog or a cat or parrot or any other type of animal I do discuss the needs and routines of the pets and what they're allowed and not allowed to do. I also find it important to meet personally with the owners and their pets to see whether there is a match between us.
I do provide pictures and small video clips of the day I spent with the pets as I find this important for the owner to know that their pets are in good hands. I have pets of my own so I understand how important this can be for pet owners to be provided by with pics and movies of their pets.
I do love what I'm doing here and I do hope I was able to bring it over a bit. Hopefully, you got a good picture of me of who I am and my musketeers and I look forward to meeting you and your sweet pet 🙂.
Hellen is a best pet sitter ever. She send me lots of pictures and video so I could know how my dog is doing. Hellen is well studied about dog and dog behavior. I can say she is a professional of animal care. She has a lot of attention to my dog so he looks very happy to stay with Hellen during he is going to home boarding. I strongly recommend her.
Hellen is the best puppysitter you can wish for! So knowledgeable and passionate at her job that it’s impressive.
Everything with her is great and Olli loves being at her place and socializing with the other dogs too!
Hellen keeps in touch with us along the day with different funny videos and pictures that we really appreciate.
Her communication skills are so clear and she always debriefs us after the day with the improvements on Olli and thinks we need to watch out for. She definitely knows way more about dogs than us, so we always follows her advice.
Dont look any further, she is the one! ;)
