Welcome to my profile!

I'm Courtney, a third-year Biomedical Sciences student at Maastricht University. I moved here from South Africa about 2 years ago and, needless to say, I really miss my pets! Back home we have 2 dogs who are like my children (you can see Bean in my profile picture and Jessy-Lee in the other photos). Growing up, there were always animlas in my house, from fish to hamsters to birds to dogs, and I also have experience taking care of horses! Unfortunately I don't have any pets in Maastricht, so I'm craving some animal contact!

Back home I was also a registered pet sitter and would often help my family and friends to take care of their pets when they were on holiday, so I have plenty of experience with pets and their parents. I like to think that I'm a fairly active person - I play korfball once a week and deliver post on Saturdays - but during my free time, I can't help but think how much better my day would be with a furry (or scaly or feathered) friend. My apartment is fairly small, so I can unfortunately only take care of small animals (which the landlord does allow!), But there are plenty of parks and walking trails nearby, which sometimes have sheep as you can see in the photos!

Both of my dogs back home were adopted from an animal shelter, and both had some anxiety issues when we got them. With a lot of tender loving care and solitaire, my family and I managed to get them out of their shells to become their carefree selves, so if you have anxious animals, I also have experience with them! Lastly, I do speak some Dutch (still learning!) And I understand it is just better, but I thought I could best express myself in my mother's tongue here. But don't let the language barrier stop you from giving your babies the best South African experience, right in the heart of Maastricht!
