Hi dog owners!

How nice that you are checking out my profile! Let me tell you a little bit about me. I grew up surrounded by animals in a small town in Zeeland. We had dogs (three sheepdogs - Dinges, Lola and Jones - grew up with me), cats, chickens and sheep.

Since I moved out I haven’t had pets of my own, but I still go back home regularly to cuddle, walk en play with Lola and Jones (Dinges passed away at age 15 ten years ago). Whenever my parents go on vacation, I take care of the animals at home. And since this year, my brother who also lives in Amsterdam, has a gorgeous blonde dachshund (teckel), called Lou. Whenever I can, I visit them or I look after Lou at my place.

About my place: I live in the Staatsliedenbuurt in Amsterdam West, a few minutes from Westerpark. I live in an apartment on the ground floor, including a small (fenced) garden, together with my boyfriend Daan. Daan is less experienced with dogs, but loves their company and wants to learn more (before we get our own dog some day). Our apartment is not huge, but has plenty of room for a dog. Dogs that stay over can sleep in the bedroom or living room; whichever they prefer. The neighborhood is friendly and quiet, although living on the ground floor and having a primary school across the street can cause some noise during the day.

What we have to offer: I love the company of a pet and enjoy long walks, for instance in Westerpark (if the dog in question likes that too). Normally I take my dogs out for a walk three times a day, 20-30 minutes for each walk, but I can go more often or for shorter walks if necessary (for instance with puppies). For shorter stays, I usually don’t leave dogs home alone for more than an hour. Since my work schedule is flexible, I can work from home when I need to. This also enables me to give 24/7 care. For longer stays (4+ days) it is harder to guarantee 24/7 care and attention. I can give (oral) medicines if necessary. Of course, I also like to cuddle and play with dogs, I’m patient and clear, and I know the responsibilities that come with taking care of a pet.
