About Sam

Hi there! My name is Sam, and I am 23 years old & from North Carolina in the United States. I moved to Amsterdam for my Master’s Degree at the University of Amsterdam & have been here for over a year. I speak English and some Greek; & I am also trying to learn Dutch.

Back home in North Carolina, I have two dogs in North Carolina, Ollie and Bo, and three cats, Charlie, Mickey, and Tito. I have personal animal experience from having my own pets throughout my whole life. Throughout the last five years, I frequently volunteered at local animal rescues and fostered young and senior animals. My dog Ollie is the biggest foster fail, as he was adopted within a day of being with me.

I offer the following services, and other inquiries can be discussed if needed:

Dogs - Dog walking (average 30-minute walk, longer upon request) Home visits for quality time, feeding, and daily visits if you need someone to check on your dog for more extended periods throughout the day. If more than two home visits are requested, an overnight booking is required.

Cats - As many home visits are needed for feedings, cleaning the litter box, and quality time. I am aware some cats prefer more human interaction than others, so we can talk about the specifics of what your cat needs! If more than two home visits are requested, an overnight booking is required.

I live in an apartment in a busy area, so I prefer not overnight to board your dogs or cats at my home, but I can make as many home visits as needed. If your dog is small, overnight boarding at my house is available for discussion (please note this is a limited option).

I have experience with hamsters and rabbits, and I am open to caring for other animals. Although I have some prior knowledge, I require detailed, written instructions as I am unfamiliar with the extent of care many of those animals require.

Send me a message any time, and I would love to be able to help you out.

I look forward to meeting you and your furry family!

- Sam

Samantha was great and I’ll certainly be using her again when we go away! It was my first time leaving my cat over night and Samantha made me feel at ease knowing Mika was being well looked after - thanks again😊

Familiar with dog training techniques
I have two dogs at home in the United States who were both adopted through local rescue organizations. Adopting through local rescue organizations taught me that each dog is unique as sometimes we are unfamiliar with their past, which could include traumatic experiences. I ‘foster failed’ my large dog Ollie (30kg), when he was a year and a half old. The shelter had limited information about his past but knew his precious owners refused to pick him up after he jumped the small backyard garden fence. Ollie was vocal in the shelter, letting staff know he did not enjoy being there, which gave insight into his behavioral problems. After I adopted him, Ollie was professionally trained & I have continued his training throughout the last three years he has been with me. Ollie had behavioral issues involving being hyper inside the house, difficulty listening, and running away when off-leash. With the help of his professional training, Ollie can now walk beside me off-leash, listens very well, and is well-behaved in and out of the home. My other dog, Bo, a medium-sized dog (22kg), was trained by myself to get familiar with the basics. Although she did not require the extensive, professional training Ollie did, we continuously worked on her listening and off-leash skills. I had two dogs throughout my childhood, Zita and Sazar. Sazar was dog aggressive until he passed away at 16. Through my experience with Sazar, I learned firsthand how to handle, control, and prevent dog interactions with dogs who could potentially harm other dogs.
