Hi, my name is Janina and I have been volunteering for an animal welfare for over 13 years. I am 30 years old and live in an apartment overlooking the Rembrandt park. Together with my sister, we support a shelter in Hungary and have had over 100 fosterdogs getting to know all kind of characters and breeds. My heart goes out to rescues, especially the shy ones, but all dogs are welcome. :-)
Our first dog, an Australian Shephard, accompanied us for 13 years through life - with the chance of learning a lot from her. With her we learned how learning for a dog should be fun - in return she was very happy to walk with is through all kinds of activities: e.g. Agility, Mantrailing, Tricks & Retrieve.
For more than 13 years, I volunteer for an animal welfare organisation as a foster family and have gathered a lot of experience by fostering and training up to now more than 100 different dogs (puppies to seniors, herd protection dogs, blind dogs, dogs with specific charakter traits, breeds etc). In short, dogs from all walks of life with different needs.
Our favorite part of taking care of dogs is seeing them happy. So when we go for a walk or spent time at home, we always try to make the dog as happy as he/she can be. So throwing a ball while going for a walk, or cuddling at home, there is definitely no lack of cuddles or balls to throw. We train dogs with positive reinforcement, thereby helping them to understand which behaviors are good and reward them for it. We fostered very shy dogs from an animal shelter before, who didn't want to be touched in the beginning and we have lots of love and patience for shy dogs.
If you're looking for a dog walker, feel free to contact me so that we can get to know each other (and the dog) :-). I am also more than happy to welcome a four-legged friend over night or over a holiday-period. Given that my work is flexible, the dog will always be accompanied.
More about us for a homestay: I am working, but mainly from home with flexible schedules (meaning I can adapt easily). I live on the 2nd floor overlooking the Rembrand park. We don't have a backyard, but can easily just walk into the Rembrand park. We will min. walk the dog 3x a day. We like to go running, or make sure a dog has his fair share of activity. Inside is enough time to rest, recharge, cuddle and learn tricks. I am ideally more looking for sitting on a regular basis so that I and the dog can get used to each other and build a bond.
Greetings, Janina
